Steam Updates….are late.

Well…later than usual. It seems so far there have been no updates to the steam store, not much we can do but wait.  Not sure if waiting means good or bad things.  Killing Floor was completed less than 1 hour before its release I think I saw.

While I’m waiting, I will be playing Killing Floor with the guys who got my Guest Passes. Thanks Valve or Tripwire, not sure which party was the one who decided to give out the passes with a purchase.

Steam Mac Wednesday – “Cross-Platform Steam Cloud”

Some progress is being made on the Steam Store.  Half-life 2, Episode 1 & Episode 2.

Again, stupidly, or maybe just because I check as things are being added, stuff doesn’t work.

I can see the new banners on the store, I can click them, and I can buy new stuff, however, I don’t have the luxury of not paying again it seems.  The message I am oh so familiar with “is not available on your platform” I expect it will be there in a few minutes.

Still praying thats not all, Left 4 Dead 1 & 2 as well as TF2 both come up in this, as well as last weeks categories, but still nowhere to be seen… Sort of, this week they are saying “continue your game” whereas the cloud is only used for config on multi-player.

Half-life Episode 2 doesn’t seem to be in my games list either, I’m some percentage sure I have already payed for, played and completed this. I’ll try and buy it later, see if it gives me the option to continue, then maybe a steam client restart.

Steam Mac Store – What’s New “Cross-platform multiplayer”

Valve are updating the Mac store.  This weeks feature “cross-platform multiplayer” (Quake 3 cough cough)

So, what’s released so far.  I’m going to say its difficult to call, because there are 2 defiantly new titles, yet the number of games listed has gone down “Games 61 … Single-player Games 64” and somehow there are more single-player games than there are games…..

Either way the 3 I’m sure are new are;

Things for valve to do, add the date on which Mac (Steam’s Mac) was released & ordering by it, fixing a rather annoying bug which seems to have logged me out of the store and community sections…on multiple occasions and the crash that occurred while writing this sentence.

I would also like a demo of Killing Floor.

Update: The number of games has now increased to 89 games, 91 single player games, but I only saw 76 when actually viewing the site.  It seems like they are just making up numbers now.

Update 2: It also seems like they are now ordering the items, so most recent Mac releases appear at the top of the list.

Steam’s Mac release games

When I first started Mac steam, they hadn’t sorted the store links out yet, so only games I already owned were available to me. On apress release by valve, mentioning only 2 games, seeing 63 was a big surprise (maybe a few of those are packs).

There are a number of indie games and already cross-platform games most being within the family genre, so a lot thats not of great interest, but several I already own.  Wondering how many companies will now decide to invest in mac development.  I don’t think I am going to be moving away from my PS3 for several titles.  Granted console controllers are not necessary the best for FPS games, but after quite a while you get used to it.  At least the choice won’t be automatically be made for me any more, both a good & bad thing.

Steam Mac – Released

So, today steam on the mac has been officially released.  However upon logging in, I can install portal, but not play, due to the message “This game is currently unavailable. Please try again at another time”.  I havn’t seen that message in quite some time. Team Fortress 2 which I believe was available during the beta and I actually own, does not exist in my list, however, everything else I own does.

Maybe things will get better over the next few hours.

As this news post says, additional collections of mac titles coming on Wednesdays.  All good news, just hoping my game catalogue is sooner rather than later.  Come on L4D2.

It also seems like I can download demos that I can’t use on this platform, simply by clicking on the link from the steam store in Safari….that seems like a bit of an obvious thing to stop.

Steam – on a mac… natively

Finally…well, almost finally Steam is coming to the mac along with a few of my favourite PC games. Counter-Strike Source, and Left 4 Dead 1 & 2.  I was a fan of the Counter Strike series since 1999 and Left 4 Dead 1, if I recall, I purchased on release date on the 360…..a very long time after it was first announced, or so it seemed.

I’ve been using a mac since 2007 and I let my 360 Gold live subscription expire some time ago and therefore didnt play L4D2 for quite some time.  After getting my new macbook decided to give crossover a go.  The game, to my suprise, worked perfectly.  It still even has a Bronze rating, basically mean it works, but use caution.

Anyways, now the games are now coded for the mac. (maybe still being coded?  I still have not seen a screenshot from anyone excepted into the beta). I was going to post a link to the steam beta signup as well, but since earlier today, the signup has been closed.  Heres hoping I’m accepted.
